Shooting Flowers

Campobasso, Molise

Flowers and stars: points of light breathing to the same rhythm. They are born, they bloom, they shine, and in the end, they fade away.

Trails of petals falling through the dark like shooting stars, black and white photograph

When I reviewed the shot on my computer, the connection was instant: it reminded me of the solar wind images captured in deep space by the Parker Solar Probe. Thinking about this detail, I started noticing the many similarities between flowers and stars. A field of flowers, after all, is exactly like a star cluster. Petals fall just like shooting stars, and in both cases, we use them to make a wish. They are all points of light breathing to the same rhythm: they are born, they bloom, they shine, and in the end, they fade away. This unexpected connection is exactly how the entire series was born.
